*** Click here
for a copy of an old midterm 1 from the last time I taught this course.
When I taught this course at Berkeley the first time,
here was the first midterm -- most
of the material on that exam is irrelevant for your exam at this
point, but may be relevant in another week or two. The
final exam from that class might
also have some relevant practice questions for you to look at. ***

Homework 4 (due Friday, Feb. 27).

-
NOTE: These are more difficult than what you will see on the exam; but,
if you can solve them quickly, the proof questions on the exam should be
easy for you.

old Math 2406 exam (it seems we were further along in the course last
time I gave the second midterm -- don't worry about stuff on that exam
that we have not yet covered).

practice exam (in fact, the exam that I gave today to Nicolas, because he
needs to take it early).

The exam will be slightly harder than the practice exam.
Final Exam Info
-
First, I found an old copy of study notes from when I taught the
course back in 2006. Click here for a
copy of these notes. These notes have a few extra things on them right
at the very end that we did not cover, such as matrix exponentials.
Everything else looks ok.

I will hold ONE OFFICE HOUR this coming week on Wednesday at 3:00.
-
On the review sheet I posted, which is from 2006, I
wrote that the exam will be ``Open Note''. In fact, your exam on Thursday

of an early 2406 final I just gave (the guy taking it had a conflict of
three exams on one day).
-
Also, there was an error on the study sheet
(now corrected) on finding the distance from a plane to a point.

the final exam.
-
Note: there were two errors on the original draft of the
exam (which I wrote at 2am last night!) -- one minor, one major. The
minor error was forgetting to
say that n > 1 on problem 3, and the major error was in problem 8,
where the bottom row should have been 1 0, not 0 1. On problem 8 I will
give everyone automatic full credit -- i.e. that problem is a freebee.
